PHILADELPHIA, PA – Share Food Program received a $30K grant from ACME Markets Foundation’s Breakfast for Kids program. The grant was provided by ACME and will be used to continue Share’s work of providing healthy breakfasts to kids who need them all summer long.

“Every day, students stitch new information into their memory banks: learning about new discoveries in science class, new places in geography, increasing their vocabulary and comprehension in reading, testing their body’s capabilities in physical education, building social relationships with classmates and much more. Imagine how difficult it is for a child to do any of that….while hungry.

A good healthy breakfast is essential to growth and development. It fuels the body in order to take on the day and without it, our children would be on empty. We work daily to ensure that children can face the day nourished, fueled and ready to take on new challenges. I am grateful to be a part of the incredible work being done at Share Food Program and thankful to our community leaders’ continued support and shared commitment to the fight against hunger.”

– Denise Ford, Program Manager, National School Lunch Program

This summer, Share Food Program offers breakfast and lunch for kids in partnership with 15 total clients, representing 8 schools and summer camps across 7 school districts in 5 counties.

“We’re pleased to partner with Share Food Program to build food security in our community,” said Dana Ward of ACME Markets Foundation. “Nourishing Neighbors, together with partners like Share, is making our neighborhoods better for our most vulnerable community members.”

Nourishing Neighbors is a charitable program of ACME Markets Foundation. The program aims to eradicate hunger in the United States by keeping food banks stocked and supporting meal distribution programs at schools. In 2022, along with the Albertsons Companies Foundation, ACME contributed more than $200 million in food and financial support, including over $40 million through the Nourishing Neighbors Program to ensure those living in local communities and those impacted by disasters have enough to eat.
