PHILADELPHIA – May 14, 2025 – Share Food Program today announced they have been awarded a $60,000 grant by the Foxwynd Foundation in support of their mission to fight hunger and reduce food waste in the Greater Philadelphia region and beyond.
This generous grant will help further efforts towards the two organizations’ common goal of enhancing access to life-saving resources and food security as well as advancing sustainability efforts.
The impact of Share Food Program is felt deeply and widely across the Region – feeding thousands of people every month. While running one of the world’s largest DoorDash pickup locations through their free food box delivery operation for seniors, feeding 300,000 kids at 800 schools through the National School Lunch program, supporting nearly 400 hyper-local partner pantries and community organizations, and more, Share is pushing on all fronts to feed folks in need. In 2024 alone, Share’s Philly Food Rescue initiative rescued nearly 6 million pounds of food from the waste stream.
“We are grateful for the support and partnership we have found in the Foxwynd Foundation,” said George Matysik, executive director of Share Food Program. “At a time when the need for our services has increased by more than 100% in the last three years, it’s heartening to know folks like the Foxwynd Foundation are fighting alongside us to bridge the gaps and make sure no one in our communities go hungry.”
“The Bentley family and the Foxwynd Foundation are honored to support Share’s mission to combat hunger and food waste across the Greater Philadelphia region. Their deep-rooted commitment to food equity, community partnerships, and sustainability is truly admirable,” said Pamela Villagra, executive director of the Foxwynd Foundation.
The Foxwynd Foundation DAF funded the Foxwynd Foundation’s generous donation to Share Food Program.
