Live from Washington, DC, a message from Executive Director George Matysik.

Five years ago today, COVID-19 was officially declared a global pandemic. Forever changed as a society, we continue to feel the ripple effects of the inequities, loss, and economic and social shifts that rattled the lives of millions.

Now, we grapple with a different crisis. As always, we will continue to stand up, fight hunger, and fight for each other. There’s plenty of uncertainty to navigate, but we remain certain that we'll be here for our communities and we thank you all for your support and voices as we push forward to a fuller future for all.

The greatest way to pull people out of poverty — as we did in 2021 and 2022 — is to invest directly into the people themselves. Food is a human right. And hunger is solvable. So why aren’t we solving it?

Want to get involved on the farm? We have communit

Want to get involved on the farm? We have community farming days starting back up on March 22nd in collab with @phillyorchards Visit the link in our bio to sign-up 🔗✨

If you can’t make it this month, fear not! Community Farming Day is a monthly occurrence.

Participants will learn about growing food in an urban environment, make an impact with hands-on help, and get to know others looking to do the same. No green thumb necessary 🌱🌳

Our quarter-acre farm grows over 5,000 lbs. annually of fully organic vegetables and herbs, and donates the yield to the community, to Share-affiliated pantries and mutual aid networks. The main function of Nice Roots Farm is to serve as a demonstration and educational space for the community.
