• Not having enough to eat increases the risk of chronic diseases, including diabetes and high blood pressure
• Hungry children often suffer severe health consequences, developmentally and physically; nearly half of deaths among children under 5 years of age are linked to undernutrition
• Many at-risk seniors can’t afford both groceries and medicine on a limited income — without assistance, this population is forced to go without the food they need to survive
